General Information Questions

What is a Tuk Tuk?

What is a Tuk Tuk?

You may know them from the streets of Bangkok or Bangalore—they are the open-air, three-wheeled conveyances attached to a motorcycle chassis that usually hold about three people, depending on the country. San Francisco’s Tuk Tuk is a modern-day version of the rickshaw and holds up to six people. And it’s completely powered by electricity, which means zero emissions for the environment! They handle hills like a champ and navigate easily to spots where buses aren’t allowed. You’ll love getting up close and personal with beautiful San Francisco from a Tuk Tuk!

How many people can fit in an Tuk Tuk?

A Tuk Tuk seats 5 people comfortably but is built to seat 6 people total.

Tuk Tuks are very small vehicles – for everyone’s comfort, we suggest 5 adult riders per Tuk Tuk. 6 guests are ok with a group that includes children ages 3+ and adults.

Please no children/infants under age 3 on any tour.

No children seated in laps.

Is there an opportunity to get out of the vehicle along the tour? Do we Stop for Pictures?

Yes, our Ultimate City Tours and Evening Tours have multiple opportunities to get out, take lots of pictures, or walk around some of the attractions and sites.

These are all private group tours. Your tour Guide /Driver is there to make the experience memorable and fun.

Why should I travel with Lucky Tuk Tuk vs a Hop on Hop off Tour Bus?

Well, obviously, our little Tuk Tuks are way cuter than those behemoths! But if that’s not a compelling enough reason, consider this: Hop On Hop Off buses are not allowed in most of the city. That means you will see only major tourist sites rather than the hidden gems that only a Tuk Tuk can get to. Did we mention Tuk Tuks are powered by electricity? Way more eco-friendly than buses!

Are children allowed in a Lucky Tuk Tuk? Is this tour good for children?

Here at Lucky Tuk Tuk, we strive to be a family-friendly operation! Our guides are trained to ensure everyone is safe as well as having a great time!

Children ages 3+ are OK on any of our private tours. We suggest ages 5+

Please no Children or Infants under age 3 on any tour.

No children seated in laps – everyone must have their own seatbelt.

Should I tip my guide at the end of the tour?

Our guides are paid for the tour but if you receive great service, we encourage you to show your gratitude to the guide with a tip. Also, please be sure to mention your guide’s name in any reviews too.

Frequently Asked Questions - Donut & Ice Cream Tours

Do we get to pick the Donut or Ice Cream Stops?

That’s our job! We’ve had lots of fun testing out all of the city’s awesome Donut and Ice Cream spots, and finding those quirky characters. Trust us, that’s why you came here.

Will I be satisfied with the number of donuts?

Absolutely! Our tastings at each stop offer a diverse range of flavors and styles. Instead of full-sized donuts, our tasting sizes ensure a broader tasting experience. We prioritize diverse and unique flavors, so if you’re only after a classic frosted donut, this might not be the tour for you. Dive in and discover something new!

Do we get an itinerary/tasting list in advance?

The tasting choices and stops are revealed as part of the experience itself as it unfolds. You can explore our example flavors and the caliber of Donut and Ice Cream Shops to get a feel for what we offer.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

While our tour is tailored for a diverse tasting experience, around 80-90% of our pre-selected items are not vegetarian or gluten-free. Be aware that some choices may contain nuts, pork, and non-dairy ingredients. Due to our commitment to timely service and avoiding long queues, our Donuts, and Ice Cream are pre-ordered, making individual adjustments for dietary needs challenging. If you’re strictly vegetarian or gluten-free, this tour might not suit your preferences as those options are quite limited.

When should we book either of the Tasting Tours? Do you take last-minute bookings?

For our tours, we suggest a minimum 1-week lead time. Bookings made with less than one week’s notice will occasionally limit the available shops and tasting selections  Book early!
